Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo has resumed training one month after he sustained an hamstring injury while in action for his club, Changchun Yatai, in a Chinese Super League match, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Ighalo pulled out of Nigeria’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa in Johannesburg and the international friendly match against Uganda due to the injury
He posted a short videos of himself working out on the treadmill and stationary bicycle on his Instagram Page on Tuesday.
Ighalo who is one of the 34 players shortlisted for the 2018 African Player Of the Year Award wrote beneath one of the videos: “The boy is back with an emoji.”
It remains to be seen if former Watford star, Ighalo will leave his relegated team Changchun Yatai, when the January transfer window reopens.
Ighalo is currently the top scorer in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with six goals, including five in the home and away games against Libya.
Three-time African champions, Nigeria, are already through to next year’s African Cup of Nations tournament with a game to spare. They top Group E with ten points from five matches, a point ahead of second-placed South Africa who must get a point in their final group game against Libya in Sfax to qualify..
Ighalo scored 21 league goals in the Chinese Super League last term to finish second in the top scorers’ chart behind Shanghai SIPG’s Lei Wu who scored 27 goals.
