Jose Mourinho has backed John Terry to recover from the injury that saw him stretchered off in Chelsea’s 4-0 Champions League group stage win over Maccabi Tel-Aviv on Tuesday.
The Blues captain appeared to damage his foot after falling to the floor prior to Willian’s brilliant second goal.
Terry’s participation in this weekend’s London derby clash with Tottenham has subsequently been thrown into doubt, but Mourinho says he is confident that he will recover quickly.
“The result was 1-0 when John left the pitch, so for John to leave the pitch with the result 1-0 I know already that he’s in trouble,” he told reporters.
Asked how long Terry would be out for, he replied: “I don’t know, to be fair, my medical department is really good, John is a special guy with a special desire to recover.”
