Red-hot Warri Wolves forward Gbolahan Salami insists the Seasiders are still favorites to win the Nigeria Professional Football League title at the expense of Enyimba with six games to the end of the season.
Paul Aigbogun’s men are second on the log with 55 points from 32 matches and are only three points behind Kadiri Ikhana’s men who are league leaders with 58 points.
The Super Eagles forward said that the 3-0 bashing of Sunshine Stars on Saturday is a way of sending cool shivers down the spine of other title challengers.
“We in Warri Wolves are not ready to settle for second best. We have our eyes on the league title and even though Enyimba are occupying that position presently we are aware that the remaining league matches are enough to settle things in our favour,” Salami told Goal.
“We came all out against Sunshine Stars because we wanted to prove a point to our rivals and having achieved that, we have our eyes on the league and not even Enyimba and other clubs can stop us.
“They are ahead of us with three points and with 18 points still to be battled for, we are very optimistic that title drought will be a thing of the past in Warri Wolves at the end of this season.”
Salami has 13 goals and he is only two goals behind the duo of Nasarawa United’s Esosa Igbinoba and Tunde Adeniji of Sunshine Stars in the race to win the top scorer’s award.
